Building for Ballan's future - Central Highlands Water invests $5.7 million
We are currently undertaking a major works program to service the ongoing growth in Ballan.
The upgrade to the Ballan Wastewater Treatment and Recycling Facility is a significant infrastructure investment in the region and will include the construction of a new winter storage lagoon.
Our $5 million investment in this new winter storage is to ensure a greater capacity to retain waste.
Sewer pump station and wet weather detention storage facility
A brand new sewer pump station and wet weather storage facility in Kennedys Drive, Delacombe, will assist to manage extreme rainfall events and provide capacity for future growth in the Ballarat West Urban Growth Zone.
Ballarat South Wastewater Treatment Plant
We have completed over $10 million dollars' worth of major infrastructure improvements at the Ballarat South Wastewater Treatment Plant. To deliver resilient and liveable cities along with healthy waterways, the new wastewater treatment clarifier will ensure treated water meets environmental requirements into the future, with the upgraded capacity to service growth until 2035.
Evansford Pipeline Replacement
Investing in water security for Maryborough and District
We are investing $5.6 million to replace 12 kilometres of the Evansford raw water pipeline. The project will improve the overall reliability of Maryborough's water supply system. This significant investment to replace aged assets will ensure water security and long-term reliability for Maryborough residents today and into the future. Over the last five years, we have invested over $10 million to improve the water quality and infrastructure in the Maryborough community.
Daylesford and Hepburn Communities
We have invested $1.5 million in the Daylesford and Hepburn area to help provide reliable high quality water to local residents and businesses. The substantial investment is made up of a number of improvement projects, including upgrading pumps and infrastructure at Hepburn Reservoir and replacing the spillway at Bullarto Reservoir.
The initial scheme of an additional project is to install 8 bulk water flow meters, providing an early detection system to our operations team which helps reduce the time taken to locate any unreported burst water main activity. It also provides real-time information which assists monitoring of water usage across the area. We are investing in our monitoring systems, infrastructure and assets in the Daylesford and Hepburn region and are working hard to ensure we continue to provide reliable, high quality water.
Learmonth Tank Works
Over half a million dollars has been invested in new water infrastructure for Learmonth, which includes the installation of a new 500,000 litre water tank and new bore infrastructure. A larger, new tank along with new bore infrastructure will ensure safe, reliable and secure water for the township of Learmonth. The new tank reduces any risk of disruption to supply or water incidents for Learmonth customers.
