Free Water Saving Showerheads for Daylesford Customers
Central Highlands Water, in conjunction with the State Government and Daylesford Rotary Club, are providing Daylesford customers with free water efficient showerheads.
The Daylesford Showerhead Exchange program enables customers to exchange their old showerhead for a new water efficient three star water-saving showerhead.
Three star showerheads use 9 litres of water per minute compared to a standard showerhead which can use up to 20 litres of water per minute.
Central Highlands Water Chief Executive Officer, Mr Neil Brennan says water efficient showerheads are one of the cheapest and most effective ways to cut household water use.
“The showerhead exchange program helps Daylesford households reduce their water consumption by thousands of litres a year as the amount of water used in the shower can be automatically halved by installing a three star water-saving showerhead,” said Mr Brennan.
Member for Ballarat East, Mr Geoff Howard says the Daylesford Showerhead Exchange Program is part of a state-wide showerhead exchange program, launched by Water Minister Mr John Thwaites in October 2006.
“By installing a free water efficient showerhead Daylesford customers will be saving water, saving money and helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Mr Howard.
Central Highlands Water residential customers in the Daylesford Water Supply can exchange their old, less water efficient, showerhead with a new three star water-saving showerhead at the Daylesford Senior Citizens Centre (rear of Town Hall), Vincent Street, Daylesford on Saturday 9 June from 9am to 1pm.
To conduct the exchange customers will need their current showerhead, a recent Central Highlands Water account and a completed Showerhead Exchange Form, which is being mailed directly to all Central Highlands Water customers in the Daylesford Water Supply District.
The Daylesford Showerhead Exchange Program is open to residential customers in the Daylesford Water Supply District only and is limited to one showerhead per household.
Towns in the Daylesford Water Supply District include: Daylesford, Hepburn and Hepburn Springs.
The three star water efficient showerheads available for exchange as part of the Daylesford Showerhead Exchange Program are not suitable for low pressure hot water systems such as gravity fed systems and some instantaneous hot water systems.
