Maryborough Improvement Works – Kars & High Street
As part of Central Highlands Water commitment to improving our network we will shortly be commencing works on a Trunk Main renewal scheme. A Trunk Main is a water main with a diameter greater than 450mm (18”) and is used to distribute large volumes of water. The existing pipe at the intersection of Kars and High Street, was installed around 50 years ago and requires upgrading.
Work will commence on 20 January 2016, take up to 12 days to complete. As the existing water main is located under the road, it will be necessary to implement a traffic management system to ensure the safety of our workforce to complete the work. During our standard working hours of 08:00-17:30, Kars Street will be closed at the intersection of High Street, in both directions to through traffic and a manned contraflow system which be put in place, allowing for single lane traffic along High Street. Access to residential and business properties will be maintained, where possible however parking spaces along High Street will be reduced. Roads will re-open to all traffic at the end of our working day.
There are no planned interruptions to the water supply during this time.
We understand that there is never a good time to undertake this type of work, however this is a crucial project to help improve our network. We apologise for any inconvenience our work may cause you and we will endeavour to minimise disruption where possible for residents, businesses and commuters.
