Free Water Saving Showerheads for Maryborough Customers
Central Highlands Water, in conjunction with the State Government
and Maryborough Rotary Club, are providing Maryborough customers
with free water-efficient showerheads
The Maryborough Showerhead Exchange program enables customers
to exchange their old showerhead for a new water efficient three
star water-saving showerhead.
Three star showerheads use 9 litres of water per minute compared
to a standard showerhead which can use up to 20 litres of water
per minute.
Central Highlands Water Chief Executive Officer, Mr Neil Brennan
says water efficient showerheads are one of the cheapest and most
effective ways to cut household water use.
“The showerhead exchange program helps Maryborough households
reduce their water consumption by thousands of litres a year as
the amount of water used in the shower can be automatically halved
by installing a three star water-saving showerhead,” said
Mr Brennan.
Member for Ripon, Mr Joe Helper MLA says the Maryborough Showerhead
Exchange Program is part of a state-wide showerhead exchange program,
launched by Water Minister John Thwaites in October 2006, which
aims to distribute about 18,000 three-star showerheads to Victorian
homes over the next three years.
“By installing a free water-efficient showerhead Maryborough
customers will be saving water, saving money and helping the environment
by reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Mr Helper.
Central Highlands Water residential customers in the Maryborough
Water Supply can exchange their old, less water efficient, showerhead
with a new three star water-saving showerhead at the Maryborough
Town Hall on Saturday 24 March from 9am to 5pm or on Tuesday 27
March from 5pm to 8pm.
To conduct the exchange customers will need their current showerhead,
a recent Central Highlands Water account and a completed Showerhead
Exchange Form, which is being mailed directly to all Central Highlands
Water customers in the Maryborough Water Supply District.
The Maryborough Showerhead Exchange Program is open to residential
customers in the Maryborough Water Supply District only and is
limited to one showerhead per household.
Towns in the Maryborough Water Supply District include: Adelaide
Lead, Alma/Moonlight, Betley, Carisbrook, Craigie, Daisy Hill,
Havelock, Majorca, Maryborough, Rodborough, Simson/Bet Bet, Talbot,
Timor/Bowenvale.
The three star water-efficient showerheads available for exchange
as part of the Maryborough Showerhead Exchange Program are not
suitable for low pressure hot water systems such as gravity fed
systems and some instantaneous hot water systems.
