Central Highlands Water hosts international visitors
Central Highlands Water today hosted a number of visitors from
China as part of a joint Chinese-Australian governance initiative.
The visitors are primarily from Beijing and large Chinese cities
and have been visiting Australia to gain an understanding of governance
structures at different levels of Government.
The Chinese visitors were particularly interested in visiting
a regional statutory authority to get a sense of the governance
structures and procedures in place at Central Highlands Water.
The visitors were also interested to understand the process on
how major infrastructure projects are delivered through Government
and private partnerships under the State Government’s PPP
program (Public Private Partnerships). Central Highlands Water
has successfully delivered major water quality improvements to
Ballarat and several surrounding towns using the PPP program.
Central Highlands Water is a State Government Statutory Authority
which is managed by a Board of Directors responsible to the Hon.
John Thwaites, Minister for Water, Environment and Climate Change.
