Central Highlands Water calls for entries into the savewater! awards
This week marks the start of the official call for entries in the prestigious 2008 savewater! awards® which recognise and reward outstanding achievement in water conservation.
The savewater! awards® are an initiative of the savewater! ® Alliance, Australia’s leading resource on water conservation information. It is made up of regional and metropolitan water businesses from Victoria and New South Wales which Central Highlands Water is a proud member.
Winning at the savewater! awards® has helped many companies and individuals to spread the water conservation message and assist other members of the community to use water more efficiently.
“We encourage individuals, businesses and those in community groups to enter the awards to be officially recognised for their tremendous water saving achievements over the past year”. said Mr Neil Brennan, Managing Director of Central Highlands Water
There are nine savewater! awards® categories to recognise business, individuals, government and community achievements for sustainable water use, as well as an Overall Award for Excellence. This is presented to the organisation or individual that has made the greatest contribution to water sustainability.
The nine award categories are:
- Business
- Regional and Rural
- Government
- Education Programs
- Built Environment & Gardens
- Product Innovations
- Community Action
- Young Achiever
- Photographic Award (three sub categories: Primary schools, Secondary schools and General)
Well known identity, Mr Rob Gell will lead an expert panel of judges for the 2008 savewater! awards®.\
“Each year I am heartened by the efforts and innovation undertaken to use water sustainably. How we use this resource only continues to increase in importance given rising populations and the drying effects of climate change, which will result in more hot days, more dry days and more storms,” says Mr Gell.
“The credibility and profile that the awards offer is an excellent platform to inspire and motivate the broader community so that Australians can continue to use water in the most sustainable way possible, “Mr Gell.

Entries close on Friday 9 May 2008. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner to be held at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, on Friday 29 August 2008.
