Increased water restrictions for the region
Amphitheatre Water supply system to increase to Stage
3 water restrictions from 12 noon Wednesday 7th March 2007
Blackwood & Barry’s Reef Water supply system
to increase to Stage 3 water restrictions from 12 noon Wednesday
7th March 2007
The Board of Central Highlands Water met yesterday and has decided
to increase water restriction levels in the Amphitheatre and Blackwood/Barry’s
Reef water supply systems due to the continuing unprecedented
dry conditions.
Inflows into regional reservoirs during the summer months have
been recorded at very low levels, putting additional pressure
on already low reservoir storage levels.
John Barnes Chairman of Central Highlands Water said "the
Board has carefully considered all relevant information and community
considerations in reaching their decision. The Central Highlands
Water community has done an excellent job in conserving water
however we are now being challenged to work harder to use even
less water in our daily activities."
At this stage the remainder water supply systems will remain
on current restriction levels.
