Increased water restrictions for the region:
Amphitheatre water supply system to increase to Stage
4 water restrictions from 12 noon Monday 7th May 2007.
Avoca water supply system to increase to Stage 1 water
restrictions from 12 noon Monday 7th May 2007.
The Board of Central Highlands Water has met and decided to increase
water restriction levels in the Amphitheatre and Avoca water supply
systems due to the continuing unprecedented dry conditions.
The Board has carefully considered all relevant information and
community considerations in reaching their decision.
The Amphitheatre water supply system will move to Stage 4 water
restrictions, which is the highest level of restrictions, effectively
restricting all outside water use. The Avoca water supply system
will move from Permanent Water Saving Rules to Stage 1 water restrictions
limiting outside water use to certain days and times.
“This drought is the worst in recorded history and is leaving
no part of Victoria untouched,” said Mr Brennan, Chief Executive
Officer of Central Highlands Water.
All other water supply systems managed by Central Highlands Water
will remain on current restriction levels.

Across Victoria, there are currently 456 towns subject to water
restrictions, with 255 of these towns on Stage 4 restrictions.
